What's a Better Insulator, Brick or Siding

There are many differences between brick and siding.

  • Bricks are more expensive than common siding such as vinyl. They actually are one of the most expensive options available, which makes common siding a more popular option for people on a budget.

  • Bricks are heavy materials, difficult to transport and with special installation requirements. Common vinyl siding is lightweight and easy to move from one place to another.

  • On the other hand, bricks are 50 times stronger and much more durable; they withstand extreme weather conditions and increase the value of the house.

  • Brick is more aesthetic and works great with a multitude of home designs. Vinyl comes in different colors and can mimic textures specific to other materials, but it will remain… vinyl. The only siding material that matches the aesthetics of brick is wood.

But people do not install bricks or siding exclusively for protecting their facades, but also to increase the level of the insulation.

When combined with insulation, brick is a very good thermal insulator, which will definitely help you to reduce the costs with heating / cooling your home. Common vinyl siding also provides a good level of insulation.

Considering these aspects, we can safely say that brick is better than common siding, but common siding is more affordable and provides a better ratio price-quality. For more details on insulation and roofing and siding products look to a Parker roofing contractor in your area.
