What Is the Best Way to Remove Dead Leaves from Your Roof?

Removing dead leaves is an important fall maintenance practice that each homeowner should consider. If you have a lot of tall trees around your home, chances are that the wind blew at least some of their leaves onto your roofs, and the danger in that is that those leaves could end up clogging your gutters, preventing rainwater from flowing easily, and even leading to issues such as ice dams forming as the winter weather comes in.

Getting rid of dead leaves is, fortunately, not that difficult, and you can use a few simple practices to get it done:

·       You can try a roof rake that you can use to effectively remove most of the leaves. Many people use leaf blowers and underestimate the effectiveness and increased safety of using a good old fashioned roof rake.

·       A strong blower is a good idea if you want to get the job done faster and dislodge some of the more stubborn leaves that seemed to have almost glued to parts of your roof. However, make sure to not lose your balance, and use a safety harness to prevent injury when you’re trying to remove leaves using a leaf blower.

·       Even a simple broom can help in some cases, as it presents an affordable method that can remove leaves without damaging your roof at all. If you’re careful, you can even avoid removing any of the more fragile, broken or damaged shingles that you might have to have Centennial roof repair later on.
