Can I Walk On My New Steel Roof

In general, a roof is not meant to be walked on, except for the situations in which specialists must climb it in order to perform different operations (repairs, maintenance etc.). Roof covers are quite fragile for human traffic. Some of them may break; others may be slightly damaged (but we all know that slight damage in the case of the roof is a vulnerability already) or moved from their right place.

A steel roof is solid enough to bear human traffic without breaking, but it can still get scratched or deformed, especially if we are talking about repeated traffic.

So, unless you have a flat roof transformed into a relaxation area and insulated with special membranes that allow traffic, you should not walk on your roof. Call the specialists when there is a problem with your roof and they will know what to do and how to climb the roof without causing damage.

However, if you really must do this yourself, you will have to take into considerations a few aspects, to walk safely on your metal roof:

-Do your best to walk on the upper half of the shingles panel as well as close  to the areas around the decking

-Avoiding laps and ribs

-Make sure to wear soft-soled shoes to prevent scratching the roof

-Make sure you wear safety equipment!

It is recommended to have a place such as https://www.tsvconstructionandroofing.com/ look at it professionaly.
